Miscellaneous...
-I Love to Read Month!-
In celebration of I Love to Read Month, every Monday (and Tuesday Feb. 19) this month we are going to have "READcess" for 1st recess. Students who purchased "Read." shirts are invited to wear their shirts on those days. Instead of going outside for morning recess, the whole school will gather in the gym. This time, students will have the opportunity to be paired with their "buddy" or they can choose to read independently. What better way to celebrate the joy of reading than to share the experience with one another!
-Scholastic Book Orders-
February orders will be due Friday, February 23. Celebrate I Love to Read Month by getting some new books for your home library! :)
-Penny Bomb-
In the spirit of alms giving for this Lenten season, we will be raising money to donate to the school in Guatemala that Fr. Phil works with closely. The money that is raised from this challenge will be used to purchase school supplies, as well as any needed personal hygiene products.
Here's how the Penny Bomb works:
Students bring PENNIES to drop in their class bucket and SILVER COINS or BILLS to drop in the other class's buckets.
The challenge is to raise the most pennies without getting "bombed" by silver coins and dollars! If another bucket looks like it's getting "too many" pennies, the students from the other classes are encouraged to drop a few silver coins and bills in there. :) The class with the most positive points at the end of Lent wins a prize from Principal Fischer!
