Miscellaneous...
-Christmas Party!-
Our Christmas party with be on Friday, December 22, from 9:30 am-11:00 am. Students can bring treats if they'd like and we'll play some fun games! I encourage you to send some healthy options so that we don't have a sugar overload right before lunch! Some tasty ideas: fruit, veggie tray, crackers and cheese, granola bars, trail mix, etc.
-Gift Exchange-
In this season of giving(that is often confused for as the season of "getting") we are reminded of the true reason that we celebrate Christmas. This year, instead of doing a regular gift exchange, we are going to pool together the money that would be spent on the gifts and donate it to a local organization. The Springfield Area Nativity Theater Association was recently voted by WCCO as the BEST LIVE NATIVITY in the STATE of Minnesota (WOOHOO!) and they are always in need of more support! Money from this year's class will be donated to their cause so they can continue spreading the joy of Christmas each year.
However, since I realize how fun it can be for students to give to their classmates as well, we will be doing a WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE. White elephant gifts can be anything laying around the house that maybe isn't used anymore or is . Or maybe it's something completely random that will make someone laugh! Or maybe it's a gaudy pair of Christmas socks that nobody has ever worn! You shouldn't have to buy anything for the gift-it should be something found around the house that you want to get rid of. :)
-Scholastic Book Orders-
Last day to turn orders in for this month is Thursday, December 21. Thanks!
-Reconciliation-
Grades 3-6 will be having Reconciliation with Fr. Phil Thursday afternoon. 3rd and 4th graders will head to the church at 1:15 pm to share in the sacrament.
-Christmas Caroling at St. John's-
On Thursday afternoon, the 3rd-6th graders will be heading over to St. John's nursing home to share their musical gift with the residents. We will return to the school by 2:45 pm.
-Food Cupboard Donations-
Every Tuesday, all of the students at St. Raphael's gather around the Advent Wreath by the school entrance for a Scripture reading and a song. We are collecting food donations for the food cupboard and the students are asked to bring their donations to the morning gathering. Students can also bring monetary donations to help support the Springfield Area Nativity group.
